The selection panel for the position of Governor of the Central Bank of Kosovo (CBK) has determined a list of four candidates. The selected candidates are Ahmet Ismaili, Lulzim Ismjli, Nexhat Kryeziu, and Shkendije Himaj.
16 candidates had applied for the position during this process.
Based on Law No. 03/L-209 for the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo and the criteria established in the competition for the position of Governor of the Central Bank of Kosovo, the selection panel has determined the list of candidates (alphabetical order). After completing the procedural actions provided for by the applicable legal acts regarding the aforementioned candidates, the proposal (list of candidates) will be processed according to Law No. 03/L-209 for the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo.
Currently, the CBK is led by Governor Fehmi Mehmeti. His term ends in March of next year. The appointment of a new governor will be for a five-year term starting on March 29, 2023 or on the date of appointment. The list of qualified candidates from the panel will be sent to the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, which will select an individual. Approval and appointment for this position will be made by the President of the Republic of Kosovo in accordance with Article 84.27 of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo and Article 38.2 of the Law of the CBK. According to a notice from the CBK, the competition was opened based on Article 38 of the Law on the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo.
